From traditional religions to cults – religious trauma can have lasting effects and ripple throughout one’s life. Religious trauma can take many forms but all seem to create similar themes in the people who experience it such as: It’s not ok or safe to be one’s authentic self; inability to trust self, others or life; shame and guilt around sex and sexuality; forced compliance with a dogma or ideology that causes one to eventually act out in unhealthy and unproductive ways, among others. Low self-esteem and confidence are prevailing themes as well as anger and resentment. Hypnotherapy can help one to reconcile the past, reclaim their own inner authority and begin living their lives with authenticity according to their own moral compass and code.
